Last week, Silverchair hosted three back-to-back events: Fall Forum (for Silverchair Platform clients), Platform Strategies (our exclusive industry event), and for the first time, ScholarOne Summit (for ScholarOne Manuscripts clients). As we wait for the recordings and more, our team shared their reflections on our time together.

Stephanie Lovegrove Hansen (VP, Marketing): "To me, these events are the physical manifestation of the ethos that makes Silverchair special. As attendees always attest, community isn't just a buzzword there–it's something you can see and feel in every presentation, conversation, and brief interaction. I love our industry's willingness to collaborate and creatively solve problems together, especially when brought together in a space of trust, ideation, and collaboration."

David Nygren (Chief Business Development Officer): "What struck me most profoundly at Silverchair's recent customer events was the palpable sense of community. It was not manufactured or forced but was genuinely alive in every conversation and collaboration. The publishers gathered engaged with each other at a level of depth and candor (and humor!) I've never witnessed at any other industry conference. Perhaps most impressive was how the event itself became a mirror of Silverchair's culture: just as the organization allows its client community to shape its priorities and roadmap, the gathering managed to be both substantively informative and wonderfully enjoyable. It was proof that the best partnerships are built not just on contracts, but on shared purpose and authentic human relationships."

Emily Hazzard (Product Manager): "This year's attendees were willing to be vulnerable, to share real challenges, and to recognize that symbiotic partnerships can deliver even better outcomes than going it alone. It was energizing to see publishers using their deep expertise as an authoritative foundation for trying new approaches."

Craig Griffin (VP, Solutions Engineering): "In a time of uncertainty over nearly every aspect of scholarly publishing, the community came together for deeply engaging discussion and thought leadership with positivity and hope."

Hannah Heckner Swain (VP, Strategic Partnerships): "There were a few references to marriage and weddings during these events, and I think there's something to this: the acquisition of ScholarOne has created a happy marriage between that product and the Silverchair Platform that's created something that's better than the sum of its parts. This was the best suite of in-person events yet, and I look forward to future meetings that celebrate this partnership of products, and all who partner with us."

Scott Bouchard (Director, Business Development): "As someone new to Silverchair, Platform Strategies 2025 was my first opportunity to meet many of my colleagues face-to-face, and the experience exceeded every expectation. This event delivered exactly what it promised: genuine connection and collaboration. In over 20 years in scholarly publishing, I've never witnessed relationships, both within a company and with its clients, that are this healthy, collaborative, and authentic. The Silverchair community isn't just real; it's thriving. What struck me most was seeing our company values not just stated, but truly lived and embraced by everyone in the room."

Emilie Delquie (Chief Product and Customer Success Officer): "While AI was a keystone of the three days and on everyone's mind, I really appreciated how we still made room to discuss other critical parts of our infrastructure for our industry. Accessibility, the broader international landscape, what makes for strong product strategy, the importance of data integrity, why missions absolutely matter, keeping the end-users at the center of our collective decisions and why partnering is a strength, were all explored in a meaningful way. And we did it all with a great sense of humor throughout the events."

This is the first year that Silverchair hosted TWO client events, thanks to ScholarOne joining our product family. We've been bringing the Silverchair Platform client community together for years, but the ScholarOne user conferences hadn't been held in over a decade, so it was extra special to bring that community together. Here's what our team had to say about the client events in particular.

Gwen Baker (Customer Education Manager): "I was told 'This is the perfect marriage of two great families' when speaking about ScholarOne becoming part of Silverchair. You could really feel that the events were all about the publishers and not a glossy sales pitch."

Sarah James (Senior Program Manager): "The ScholarOne Summit reinforced that our strongest asset is our community. When customers connect directly with peers and our team in person, we don't just solve problems—we uncover opportunities neither side knew existed."

Lindsay Jacobik (VP, Customer Care): "The enthusiasm from clients eager to envision Silverchair's future together and actively problem solve with candid feedback was energizing."

Adrienne Fisher (Senior Product Manager): "It's been an absolute joy to be given the opportunity to reconnect with our S1M user communities through events like these. It's one thing to have a seat at the table, but it's quite another to be the one setting the table, sparking the conversations, and providing the hospitality! Silverchair truly brought it this year with thoughtful and intelligent programming and plenty of opportunities for chance conversations, all while keeping things lively and fun. Not an easy feat!"

Ryan Ross (Solutions Engineer): "As someone who had the pleasure of attending several ScholarOne User Conferences back in the day, I especially enjoyed the ScholarOne Summit. There's something really special that happens when ScholarOne power users are together, and their enthusiasm was contagious. I'm carrying that energy forward in my daily work."

Heather Wright (Program Director): "Seeing our clients in person beats on a video call every time! Fall Forum is where meaningful connections happen. This event is about bringing publishers and partners together in person to share ideas, spark collaboration, and strengthen the scholarly community, and it is such a joy to behold."

Norma Roberts (Manager, Service Implementation): "This time was so, so incredibly useful. Strengthening relationships, answering questions, letting clients know we see them and value them matters so much."

Tina Fargo (Lead Implementation Consultant): "The event was a valuable opportunity for clients and Silverchair staff to come together, exchange insights, and collaborate on priorities that matter most to the S1M community. Everyone engaged in the discussion and shared their expertise to help identify key areas that could help shape the future of the product."

Vanja Skrbic (Client Solutions Manager): "This conference reinforced the power of collaboration, innovation, and shared learning. The insights we gained and the connections we built will help us drive meaningful impact, not just within our organization but across the industry. I'm excited to bring these ideas forward and turn them into action."

Alex DiDonato (Implementation Consultant): "Being able to meet clients in-person allowed for conversations that do not happen over regular zoom calls. The entire ScholarOne Community needed this!"

Julie Schumann (Product Analyst): "Fall Forum was a fun and engaging way to come together and understand what clients want from our tools, and what difficulties our clients are facing."

Audrey Grey (Senior Account Manager): "The connections made and ideas further developed at these events are invaluable to the collaborative work I do with clients at Silverchair. Not only do we get to move away from business-as-usual topics to the more creative and abstract concepts, I get to be in the room as I see my clients inspired by the ideas of others and engage in that idea with them immediately."

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing photos, recordings, recaps, and attendee reflections from these events—stay tuned!
