The Silverchair team is busy preparing for a 3-day extravaganza of events on September 24-26. Bookending our popular Platform Strategies conference are two client-exclusive events: the Silverchair Platform Fall Forum and the ScholarOne Manuscripts Summit.

When I’m not nervously tinkering with the agenda and planning swag, I’m reminded at every turn how important these communities are, not just for our clients to learn from each other, but for us to take the pulse of their priorities so we can work together on solutions.

What our clients can expect from these meetings

Aside from some laughs and custom swag that you can’t get anywhere else, these days are for learning and connecting. We work hard to build out agendas based on feedback from clients and the topics they care about most. In addition, we make sure you’re not just hearing from us all day about our plans and our new initiatives. Each day has dedicated time for clients to share new ideas and projects with each other.

One priority always remains at the heart of these events: putting our clients’ voices at the center of everything we do. What does that look like?

  • Hands-on workshops focused on today’s toughest challenges
  • Insights and ideas from fellow publishers and industry experts
  • Exclusive previews of upcoming tools, features, and strategic plans
  • Ample time to connect, collaborate, and help set our shared direction
We believe that the relationships we have with clients are a critical part of the successful development of our products.

Silverchair Platform Fall Forum

Our week in DC starts on September 24, with the Silverchair Platform Fall Forum. We love this opportunity to come together with Platform clients (and we hope to see some of our new faces there this year!) and talk about the role of platforms in publishing infrastructure, changes to discovery, and much more.

We will open and close the day by looking at users and user engagement. Naturally, the definition of ‘user’ is changing, especially with new forms of disintermediation from search engines and AI agents. To explore these changes, we’ll have a session on SEO and AIEO to open the day, mirrored by a session at the end of the day on human-centered design.

In addition, we’re excited to hear from our clients. We’re gearing up for an idea-generating session where clients pitch Silverchair and their peers on new ideas, processes, or ways of working. Following that session, we’ll dive deeper into workshops that center some of the key challenges our publishers share with us.

Fall Forum will generate ideas for clients to take away, new best practices on emerging technology trends, and will continue to deepen the relationships that make working with Silverchair unique.

ScholarOne Summit (primarily for Manuscripts clients)

One of the first things we were asked after our acquisition of ScholarOne last year was whether we’re bringing back the user group meeting. The answer is yes!

The ScholarOne Summit on September 26 will close out our events. This summit will be one of our first opportunities to get so many ScholarOne clients together with so many different Silverchair colleagues. Since this is the first version of one of these meetings for the newly combined Silverchair-ScholarOne team, we’re just as excited to hear from our clients as they are to hear from us.

From deep dives into the product roadmap for ScholarOne Manuscripts, to a set of workshops designed to prioritize author and editor experience painpoints, to a client showcase for new projects and ideas, it’s set to be a dynamic day of discovery for all.

From AI prototypes, to tool updates, to accessibility, security, and SEO, these client events are great for learning, connecting, and identifying new ideas that can inform our publisher’s strategies and plans.

By the end of the week, after Fall Forum, Platform Strategies, and ScholarOne Summit, the Silverchair team will be a perfect combination of exhausted and exhilarated. As an introvert, I plan to sleep on the plane on the way home and speak to no one for the rest of the weekend. But come Monday, I’ll be ready to look to the future based on what we’ve learned from the week.

If you’re a client of the Silverchair Platform or ScholarOne Manuscripts and you aren’t already registered, please do so here (client code is PS25-CLIENT).
