(Charlottesville, VA) June 9, 2026 – Silverchair, the leading independent platform partner for scholarly publishers and professional societies, today announced that The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) has selected ScholarOne Conferences to manage its future conference abstract and submissions workflow. The partnership marks a significant step in TMS's efforts to scale its conference technology infrastructure and positions the society for greater operational efficiency and enhanced user experience across its growing portfolio of events.

TMS manages between three and seven events annually, including its flagship meeting, which typically receives over 4,500 abstract submissions, as well as a series of specialty events averaging 400–500 abstracts each. To support this volume with the consistency and reliability its community expects, TMS selected ScholarOne Conferences to deliver an upgraded, flexible platform that integrates seamlessly with existing tools and workflows.

ScholarOne Conferences, currently supporting more than 170,000 submissions annually across a broad range of professional societies, is purpose-built for exactly this kind of transition. Its RESTful APIs enable seamless integration with TMS's existing association and event management systems, while its cloud-based infrastructure eliminates dependencies on aging platforms. The platform also meets GDPR and European Accessibility Act compliance requirements, which is in line with TMS’s commitment to being good stewards of their members’ data.

"At TMS, we are dedicated to providing our global community of materials scientists and engineers with world-class events and an exceptional user experience," said Trudi Dunlap, TMS Executive Director and CEO. "This transition to a new platform allows us to streamline our conference workflows and to better integrate our technical systems, ensuring our members and volunteers continue to receive the reliable, high-quality service they expect from TMS."

"TMS's mission to advance materials science and engineering for the benefit of society reflects the kind of deep community commitment that Silverchair is built to serve," said Josh Dahl, VP of Product and General Manager of ScholarOne at Silverchair. "We're proud to bring ScholarOne's proven capabilities to TMS and look forward to supporting the society through this transition and well beyond."

Since Silverchair's acquisition of ScholarOne in 2024, the company has invested significantly in modernizing the platform's infrastructure and expanding its capabilities — balancing the reliability that existing users depend on with the innovation required to meet an increasingly complex scholarly publishing landscape. The implementation for TMS is targeting a system launch of July 2026, ahead of the TMS Specialty Congress 2027.
