Open Positions

Silverchair is an industry leader in developing publishing platforms specifically for the health care industry. We work with the most prestigious organizations in medicine, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Heart Association, and the National Institutes of Health, to name a few. (See a more complete list on our clients page).

We are pioneers in the design and creation of a semantic layer in health care databases, and have built 4 major platforms designed to exploit semantic-rich data and create advances in discoverability, contextual linking, and targeted content delivery for consumers of professional health content. Some call the Semantic Web "Web 3.0"-but we've been applying its concepts since 1998!

Silverchair offers a stimulating work environment where excellence and ingenuity are rewarded. We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Quality Assistant

Do you have strong attention to detail, a good command of grammar and computer skills?  Would you like the opportunity to develop skills in proofreading, Web quality assurance, and project management?  If you answered yes, you could be the next member of a quality assurance team that produces a high volume of medical information for print and web publication. Job description also includes learning and implementing the basics of Web delivery of medical information.  Publications experience and knowledge of HTML or XML are pluses.  The ability to focus while managing diverse tasks is essential.

Medical Indexer

Silverchair seeks a medical indexer to develop UMLS-compliant metadata for our online products. Our products contain high-quality medical content owned by respected medical publishers, societies, and academic institutions; our metadata allows the delivery of highly accurate and complete search results and a high level of interoperability. Our headquarters are in Charlottesville, Virginia, but working offsite is an option for the right candidate.  At least 2 years' experience indexing or cataloging medical content required.
