Duke University Press – read.dukeupress.edu

Duke University Press (DUP) publishes over 50 journals, offers 9 digital collections, and has over 2,400 scholarly books available online. The migration of DUP’s extensive collection of scholarly journals, books, and electronic collections in the humanities and social sciences to the Silverchair Platform provided scholars with a single reading and research experience across books and journals.

Duke University Press selected Silverchair because of its focus on a unified content delivery platform for readers and its ability to empower publishers with its suite of administrative and reporting tools. DUP was able to migrate all of its journal and book content to the Silverchair Platform in 9 months. DUP and Silverchair began collaborating immediately and closely in the discovery and design phase, pursuing a responsive and accessible design with a clean interface. Team and project leads maintained constant engagement during the execution of requirements and through launch.

The new platform was well-received by DUP’s customers, and the transition in particular was praised by DUP’s library customers as one of the most well-managed platform migrations they had yet experienced due to Silverchair’s extensive experience with migrations and DUP’s proactive and transparent customer communication strategy.

Additionally, in 2021, DUP’s knowledge of Silverchair’s tools enabled them to seize an opportunity in the market, leveraging the platform’s capabilities to develop and launch the Scholarly Publishing Collective.
